Mumblings №11

Let’s bring this back to life. Mumblings returns.
AI is becoming more and more prominent and I’m pretty sure I’m only writing around 10-20% of my code now.
My work flow usually ends up being:
- use something like spec-kit to scope out the changes
- then getting opus 4.6/gpt 5.3 to execute the tasks
- finally tying up loose ends either myself or with AI
My PR throughput has increased dramatically. But so does the slop, it’s about finding that balance between getting increased value from my time and making it manageable in the long run.
Life
My life is on a pretty high calorie deficit whilst hitting gym to try not to lose much muscle mass AND keep up the running of 30-40km a week. Doesn’t sound like much but I am… tired. I sleep like a rock each night. Also… I miss climbing - I haven’t climbed in months now.
I broke my sobriety for my 31st too. Regret? None. My relationship with alcohol has successfully been reset after a successful 1+ year of sobriety. So either way, I am happy.
I’ve been pretty driven by my side projects of late.
- Raycast Obsidian daily note extension
- Lasso a TUI for managing Cloudflare Wrangler files
- TrailMapper for plotting GPX files on OpenStreetMaps
+ the redesign of this site… twice.
Finally my bookshelf, keeping track of the books I read/listen to. Last year was a record year for me and this year I see no reason why I won’t beat it. At the moment I have 3 books on the go for different situations. 1 book before bed, 1 audiobook for when exercising, and 1 technical book to learn from. I find this really helps me to keep up the habit of reading and learning.
